The approach customers are seeing travel has been altering, they’re now on the lookout for immersive experiences, understanding and being part of the native cultures. Iconic landmarks now not drive determination making. Destinations must showcase the complete spectrum of experiences that they provide. Mixing journey, studying, therapeutic and celebration. It’s a  paradigm shift from “I was there” to “I was changed there.”

Scott Wegener, Head of Asia Pacific at Tripadvisor, whereas addressing the viewers in the course of the opening keynote at ITB India 2025 shares extra about Experiential Travel.

Postcards for the Soul

The seek for that means and transformation is redefining travel in 2025 and past. It is now not only a journey it’s a postcard for the soul.  Wegener states: “Leisure travel is no longer about just buying holidays, flights, hotel stays. It’s about seeking journeys. So, what is experiential travel in 2025? It’s a shift from passive sightseeing to active engagement. It’s about immersing yourself in a local way of life, forging connections with people and truly understanding a place’s essence. Say goodbye to rushed itineraries and crowded bus tours and shallow checklists, say hello to slow travel. It’s about immersing yourself in the local way of life, forging connections with people and truly understanding a place’s essence.”

Key fundamentals of Experiential Travel

P is for personalization: Travellers need to curate an itinerary that aligns with their pursuits, whether or not it’s a pottery class in Jaipur for these that are excited about arts and crafts, or a house cooked meal in Hanoi for individuals who are excited about cooking, a wildlife trek in Sri Lanka for the extra adventurous varieties, or possibly even a tour of the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia, for these that are into sports activities.

A is for Authenticity: Experiences should be real and true to the native tradition. Travellers are after actual tradition, actual rituals, actual individuals, not staged for Instagram moments.

L is for the native interplay: Travellers are wanting to interact with native individuals, study from native artisans, be part of an area competition, volunteer for a neighborhood challenge, even sit with the locals and easily have a chat over Chai.
S is sensory immersion: Travellers need to have interaction all of their senses. Taste a spicy wada pao in Mumbai, hearken to native people music in Jaipur. Inhale the aromas of the previous Delhi spice market. See and possibly even put on vibrant sarees in Varanasi. Or contact and really feel handmade crafts in Kolkata. Travel is now lived not simply watched.

Travel was about amassing locations, now it’s about amassing moments!
